On my ventures of the contemporary Arts
market to search and find unique and extraordinary creative people
and to revisit those established I attended one of the current events
of Gaynor Evelyn Sweeney (Artist, Curator and Author) in North West
of England.
Her current exhibition and artwork did
not disappoint, 'Propaganda Machines'. Enticing and thought provoking
it engaged the senses. She has combined more established Fine Art
practices of canvas work in large scale abstractions and fused within
a light projection and sound installation. The moment you walk in you
are beguiled and enveloped to the visualisations all around and
absorbed into the timbre and resonance of sound that undulates to the
punctuation of the abstractions of her paintings overlaid with
digital media and light.
Her upcoming exhibitions for 2019
encompass the broad range of new art work released and to four
exhibitions over the year with workshops and more. To attend the
exhibitions it is by appointment only. More information on current
events and upcoming go to www.gaynorevelynsweeney.webs.com
She explained the reasons behind the
art work: “The work is about capturing the audiences senses on many
levels and not merely to assume of conventional art or what art is or
indeed how it is experienced. To take them along a conceptualised
journey and open to their own predisposition and interpretation in
framework of duality to guide and they to determine. It is not simply
artist led by the content of work, but equally it is the audience
perceptions that define their experience and set precedence to how
they view it. To be immersive and interactive. Propaganda Machines is
itself about the current environment and issues of this country and
world. The many conflicting standards between socio-political and
cultural shifts and not necessarily is everything for the good and
rather in this window on a very slippery slope”.
